MEMS Design Contest at Duke - 2004 March Mayhem

Parts & Components

Each team is limited to a total cost of $350 (strictly enforced) and is encouraged to make one large order, rather than many small orders.  Each team specifies a “part-person”. Only that person is permitted to order parts.

You can also use $100 to obtain the kit (see Tony Knight or Amy Poplin). If you are using parts from a previous competition or your own parts, you must give an estimate of the values of these parts to Robert Kielb as soon as possible.  This value will be deducted from your $350 budget.

1) Select your item(s) from one of the following vendors (no others are permitted):
www.mcmaster.com
www.grainger.com
www.towerhobbies.com
www.radioshack.com
www.sdp-si.com
www.jameco.com

2) Email the vendor, part number, quantity, and total cost (including an accurate estimate of the shipping charges) to Tony Knight,   tony.knight@duke.edu.  Include the part person’s name, phone number, and machine name.

3) Tony will either honor or deny your request. In either case, you will be notified.

4) If the order results in the team total exceeding the $350 limit, the part(s) will not be ordered, and the part person will be notified.

4) Orders will be placed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays before 3:00 P.M.
Therefore, your request should be in Tony's email box no later than 12:00 noon on the days that he places orders.

5) Deliveries are dependent on the vendor's stock.  You will be notified by email when the parts are received.

6) All orders will be shipped to the part person, room 144 Hudson Hall.  The part person will be notified when the shipment arrives.
